Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Pliggen Plignoggen comes from a noble Wizard family of gnomes. The Plignoggens named Pliggen after his own last name, for they planned for him to be a Plignoggen to the utmost. This family of Wizards and Scholars enjoys research on fringe theories, both in the worlds of Science and Magic. While his family maintains a friendly relationship with Ingstradt University, Pliggen is not well received in most of the School’s circles. As a mere undergrad, he has challenged Dean Bertholdt regarding (the Dragonlands’) true origins. The Dean claims the lost continent has been separated from the mainlands’ history for all time and simply never rose beyond the Primitive Dragonborn’s savage ways. Pliggen beleives his own lands and the Dragonlands are linked by shared history and were just as advanced at one point or another. The Dean ejected him from his class publicly and with great public discredit. Pliggen has begun a self-funded journey to the Dragonlands to prove all the spoonfed regurgitators of pop-Doctrine wrong. A group of half-elves has joined him on his journey. Most notably his childhood friend, Eris. Being a highly remedial and often dangerous user of magic, Eris has become a natural companion of sorts to Pliggen. Eris’ reasons are her own, but Pliggen’s relationship with Eris stems from routine. Eris could not be trusted to her own studies during their mutual education and was often pinned to the fastidious gnome, to much chagrin. Nobody would eat with either of them at lunchtime. Eris had a tendency to turn everyone’s food into frogs or something explosive while Pliggen was just dull and abrasive.
